What you will need is PSP Or Photoshop 

(I did this tut in photoshop) and Alienskin Eyecandy

 

1.) First open up a new image 200 x 500

( this could be the standard size for this element)

 

2.) Now pick a color use this color d9c298 and

Make a Preset shape rectangle Like so..

 

3.) now Right Click on your layer and Rasterize it

 

4.)Go to your filter and pick eyecandy/wood

 

5) Now choose these settings..Knots (just turn all the way to the lowest)

 

6) Now right click on your layer and its time to apply some

Inner shadow and bevel with these settings.

 

PSP Here are your settings (effects-3D effects/inner bevel)

 

 

7) Now go to Filter noise/add noise

(in psp go to Adjust/add noise)

These are your settings PSP on left Photoshop on right!!

 

8) Now Right click on your Layer and duplicate it...

 

9) now we need to rotate the top layer slight..

In photoshop use edit transform rotate.

 

(If psp.. You will have to use image/rotate/free rotate and be sure

The box rotate single layer is checked. Use the free rotate box put in 2)

 

 

10.)now you want to move the top layer just above the bottom layer..

 

11.)now go to your bottom layer.. Click eraser and erase everything

Showing on the left side.. And the bottom..

We only want to see the bottom layer on the right side.

 

12.)Now right click on top layer and lets add a drop shadow

In psp. Go to image 3d effects drop shadow

Settings will be to your liking.. Something subtle

 

Second Step. METAL CLIP

 

1.) Create a new layer..

 

2) grab a light grey color and your paint tool.. And draw like this

Okay so its not the best you can play around with it..LOL

Just to give you a general idea..

 

3) now go to Filters-eyecandy-chrome and click on settings..

Liquid Metal is perfect..

 

4.) now you want a lil shadow behind the metal .

 

5) Create a new layer.. (make sure its below the metal layer)

 

6) grab your brush tool  ( I USED size 7) draw a small black line just above

The metal.. Like this

7) now go to your opacity and lower it to about 34%

 

8.) now merge layers and add a drop shadow if you like..

 

ALL DONE!! GREAT JOB!!
